Friday Fave : Dropbox

Dropbox

Dropbox has to be one of my favorite finds ever! If you don’t already have a backup system in place for your computer files, you should definitely sign up for a free account.

Dropbox is the easiest way to store, sync, and share files online. There’s no complicated interface to learn, it works seamlessly with any operating system (i.e., Windows, Mac, Linux), and it automatically makes sure your files are up-to-date.

Nowadays, our lives are on our computers. So, if you’re anything like me, you’ll be eternally grateful for the peace of mind that Dropbox offers (without you having to remember a thing)!

Plus, for those of us on a rather tight budget, the free account option is a lifesaver, providing just enough storage space for your most essential files.

Having your files (and all their revisions) accessible from anywhere in the world via the Dropbox website is a super-dooper handy feature for anyone who travels.

If you happen to forget to grab your final proposal before you leave home, it’s no problem! Just stop by the library and print a new copy! So cool!

The features as listed on the Dropbox website…

  • Sync files of any size or type
  • Share large files and photos easily
  • Automatic online backup
  • Access your files anywhere
  • Sync between operating systems
  • Track and undo changes to files

Indecision is the Enemy !!

OK… It’s time to rethink this blogging thing. I’ve been aiming to post more frequently, but I’m finding that the more I attempt to “box up” my blog posts into nifty little categories, the less I write.

Time to swallow my pride, take my own advice, and bid adieu to the old ways that simply aren’t working for me. I hereby vow to blog about cool stuff I find or learn or know that I feel compelled to share. No more wasted energy trying to fit this square peg into that round hole!

Now, I realize that I’m likely the only person in the world that struggles with perfectionism and indecision (yeah, right!), but I will offer this tidbit of wisdom…

When something isn’t quite working out for you the way that you had originally planned, change it!

There are no hard-and-fast rules for life. In fact…

The only thing in life that we can consistently guarantee is that there is no guaranteed consistency!

Our lives are ever-changing, always in a state of flux, and so we must adapt our habits and organizing systems accordingly.

So, what indecision(s) are you struggling with today? How do you intend to fight back, take control, and make change happen?

Monday Mission : Eat That Frog !!

Cell Phone

If you’re anything like me, you have at least one thing in life that you absolutely abhor doing. I personally dread making phone calls. The truth of the matter is, however, that these tasks still need to get done, whether we want to do them or not. So what’s the solution?

Well, world-renowned time management expert, Brian Tracy, has the answer:

” E A T   T H A T   F R O G ! “

By identifying, then tackling, your biggest, most unpleasant task first—the philosophy of “eating a frog”—you can learn to plan and organize each day, set priorities, get started right away, and complete jobs faster.

So, my challenge to you this week is to “Eat That Frog” first thing in the morning, before you work on anything else. Not only will you end up with an immeasurable sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, but your mind will be freed of its burden, allowing you to focus your creative energies and make the rest of your day far more productive.

What tasks do you regularly put off as long as you can? Or, what strategies do you regularly employ that help you “Get Things Done”? Enlighten me!

Thank you Michelle! My closet is beautiful and organized. I can see everything and can get it just as quickly. Even better, I’ve been able to keep it that way for 2 months. Thank you so much.

Interview with Matt Brezina, Co-Founder of Xobni

Earlier this month, I was honored to be interviewed by Matt Brezina, co-founder of Xobni :

I had a great call with Xobni user Michelle Deo today. Michelle is a professional organizer from Georgetown, Kentucky. As you can expect, a professional organizer would be pretty excited about Xobni.

As a professional organizer, Michelle helps families and companies organize the processes by which they run their lives and their businesses. This ranges from new organizing systems for their closets at home to filing systems and work-flow management systems for the office.

While Michelle focuses on organizing people’s physical information, she uses Xobni to organize her digital information.

Michelle gets a lot of personal and business email and loves that Xobni organizes her inbox around people. She enjoys the automatic contact information extraction, the photos of her contacts, and having all of the conversations and attachments from a contact in one place. Michelle has been using Xobni for 6 months, and regrets not finding it earlier!
