Indecision is the Enemy !!

OK… It’s time to rethink this blogging thing. I’ve been aiming to post more frequently, but I’m finding that the more I attempt to “box up” my blog posts into nifty little categories, the less I write.

Time to swallow my pride, take my own advice, and bid adieu to the old ways that simply aren’t working for me. I hereby vow to blog about cool stuff I find or learn or know that I feel compelled to share. No more wasted energy trying to fit this square peg into that round hole!

Now, I realize that I’m likely the only person in the world that struggles with perfectionism and indecision (yeah, right!), but I will offer this tidbit of wisdom…

When something isn’t quite working out for you the way that you had originally planned, change it!

There are no hard-and-fast rules for life. In fact…

The only thing in life that we can consistently guarantee is that there is no guaranteed consistency!

Our lives are ever-changing, always in a state of flux, and so we must adapt our habits and organizing systems accordingly.

So, what indecision(s) are you struggling with today? How do you intend to fight back, take control, and make change happen?

Thank you Michelle! My closet is beautiful and organized. I can see everything and can get it just as quickly. Even better, I’ve been able to keep it that way for 2 months. Thank you so much.

The “Lowedown”

Lowe's Virtual Room Designer

Well, it’s official… I am now working part-time at Lowe’s. So, if you happen to find yourself in the market for new cabinets or countertops, I’m your gal! Stop by the Georgetown store, and I’ll “hook you up.”

I tell you… It’s really strange to be sitting in the doctor’s office, waiting for the nurse to come in and give Amanda her immunizations (in preparation for Kindergarten), and thinking, “Cool… I actually know the name of that countertop edging!”

This doesn’t make me a terrible mother, does it? 😉

Survey Says : Women Want Professional Organizers

In May 2008, Meredith/NBC Universal announced the results of their survey entitled “What Do Women Want?”™ More than 3,000 women revealed key insights on the female psyche across topics including health and well-being.

When asked which service professionals they would most like to hire, 24% of women responded that they wanted to hire a professional organizer to declutter their living space or office.

This finding suggests that women recognize the need to simplify their overwhelmed lives. But, do they realize the inherent health benefits of enlisting the help of a professional organizer?

As Debbie Jordan Kravatz, owner of Virtually Organized, noted on her blog…

Getting organized:

  • helps reduce your stress levels (which can help with everything from anxiety and depression to cardiovascular and weight issues),
  • puts more time in your day (which can be better used getting annual check-ups, counting calories, and exercising regularly), and
  • frees you up to focus on things BESIDES your cluttered counter tops and overstuffed garage (such as spending time with your loved ones and enjoying your favorite hobbies—activities which have been proven to have lingering health benefits).

What are your thoughts? Have you noticed how the amount of clutter in your home affects your health? I’d love to hear details about your personal home/health connection!

[ real neat ] return

Well, this blog post has been a long time coming… (I have truly extraordinary procrastination skills when faced with less-than-pleasant-to-dos.)

After my long, unplanned, and very much unwanted hiatus, I am grateful to be blogging again. Over the past few months, I have learned more than I had ever wanted to about pride and humility…

Having been a stay-at-home mom for the past 4 years, and with an impending divorce looming overhead (after a 7-year marriage and a total of 15 years together), I now find myself living in an apartment, seeking government assistance, job hunting in the worst economic downturn in decades, and assuring my daughter that she is still loved.

My hope is that, as I share my organizing challenges and everyday struggles, both you and I will learn to create lasting, positive changes in our lives, our families, and our homes.

Thanks for joining me on this journey!
